About: Assembly Commendation
February 15, 1998
Greetings in the blessed name of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ!
In view of the fact that all men have sinned against and fallen
short of the glory of their Holy God and Creator; and that the
wages of their sin is death, being destined to spend an awful
eternity in the confines of Hell;
And, rejoicing that there is one, yet only one, hope of rescue
from that sin and its condemnation; that is, through the
precious atoning blood of Jesus, who knew no sin yet was made
sin on our behalf, that we might be the righteousness of God in
Him;
And, recognizing that the gospel is, in fact, the power of God
unto salvation to all who believe; and that the word of the
cross is the power of God to those who are being saved; and that
the Christian is thus to preach the gospel -- Jesus Christ and
Him crucified;
And, believing Romans 10, which tells us, "Whoever will call
upon the Name of the Lord will be saved. How then shall they
call upon Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they
believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear
without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are
sent?"
And, noting in Acts 13 that the saints in Antioch set apart and
sent forth Paul and Barnabas to the work to which the Holy
Spirit had called them;
Thus, believing that the Spirit of God Himself has called Steve
and Patricia Phillips to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ beyond
the soil of the United States; and having observed in them a
track record of faithfulness in boldly and clearly proclaiming
the gospel for many years in the contexts of individual witness,
street preaching, and other mediums; and since Steve and his
family have received an invitation and request from indigenous
believers in Nigeria to go and help in the work of the Lord in
that country, and the Lord has graciously and by His strong hand
been clearing the way for them to go to that land; and that the
potential for harvest in that land is plentiful;
We therefore commend Steve and Patricia Phillips, along with
their family, to the work of the gospel in Nigeria, to live
among the people of Nigeria, and there to preach the gospel and
teach God's Word.
Sincerely,
An Assembly of Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ
The church that commended Steve and Patti to the work in Nigeria
[was] a small assembly of believers who meet in a home in Shelton,
Washington.
We endeavor to practice the clear teachings of the Bible in
dependence upon the grace of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. To
Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all
generations. Amen.

position in any particular area, please feel free to

The assembly that commended the Phillips is no longer in existence. There are many believers around the USA that are a part of a variety of fellowships that support the Phillips.
They also are supported via Christian Missions in Many Lands - CMML
