November 2007 Update
Dear friends and family,
We trust that this letter finds you well and enjoying the blessings of our Savior. Much time has past since we last wrote to you, and so we would like to give you an update on the ministry here in Hoquiam, Washington among the Spanish-speaking people. We would also like to thank all of you who have been praying for us as well as those who have given to support the Lord's work here in this small corner of the world. The last month has been very exciting and we are eager to tell you what the Lord has been doing here.
On October 12th we held a free dinner and invited the Spanish-speaking people of the area. We were blessed with the help of over 30 believers, from both our home fellowship in Gig Harbor (about 2 hours away) and from a Spanish-speaking Baptist church in Shelton (about an hour away), who came to help with the meal preparation, the serving, the singing, and the music. Praise God, nearly 30 Hispanics from the area came and were served a warm Mexican dinner as well as dessert. After dinner, I (Nathan) gave a message on the Good News about the Lord Jesus, and an invitation for them to meet with us for Bible study on Sundays.
We began services the following Sunday evening (Oct. 14) and
although, we had a small congregation of six people (Julissa, her
parents, her two younger sisters, and I) we weren't discouraged, but
prayed that God would continue to work in the hearts of the people
and bring them to hear more about Him. Over the past few
weeks, we have had as many as 18 people join us for Bible study and
praise (in addition to Julissa's family and my parents). Among
those who have attended, most seem sincere in their desire to know
the truth. Here in Hoquiam the only other two "churches"
that have Spanish-speaking services are cults – the JW's and the UPC
who both reject essential doctrines of the Word of God, i.e. the
Trinity, and salvation by faith. Because of this we feel an even
greater urgency to preach the truth here among these people before
they are even more deceived by the one who manifests himself as an
Angel of Light: the Devil.
Please pray for the people that we are working with, at this
point most are still not saved but at least one of the men has made
a profession of faith in Christ. Pray that the rest will soon do the
same.
On Saturday, December 8th we are planning a Christmas dinner/outreach and will again be inviting the Hispanic population to join us. We greatly appreciate your prayers for this time that many will come and hear the gospel, and that as a result many will receive Christ as their Savior. Pray that anything or anyone that might seek to hinder the work would be stopped, and that those who are trapped in darkness would be set free. It has been so encouraging to see how the Lord has worked in the past month here and we look forward to seeing what He is going to do in the months to come; for we know that with our God nothing is impossible.
Thank you again for your prayers for us.
May our gracious God and loving Father bless and guide you as you serve Him.
Your fellow servants in the Lord Jesus,
Nathan and Julissa

July 2007 Update
Our baby has arrived/ nuestra bebé ha llegado
Julissa gave birth to our beautiful little girl yesterday morning (7-8-07) at 6:55 she weighed 8 pounds and measured 20 inches long. We give thanks to the Lord for a smooth labor and delivery and a healthy baby, Eva Margarita Cedarland. We would like to thank each one of you who prayed for our baby as we were faced with the possibility of losing her early on in the pregnancy. God is truly faithful and He has been so gracious to us, and we are very grateful to now have our precious little girl here with us.
May the Lord bless each one of you,
Love in Christ Jesus,
Nathan, Julissa, and Eva
Saludos,
May 2007 Update
Dear friends and family,
We want to thank you for your prayers for us and our baby during the past months as we were faced with the possibility of losing her. God has been gracious and now both Julissa and our baby girl are healthy and growing everyday. Julissa is now starting the beginning of her seventh month.
Where are we now?
We are now back in Washington and are in the process of settling into Grays Harbor County on the Pacific coast. It is an area of several smaller cities without any real outreach toward a very large and growing population of Spanish-speaking people. The Lord has put in our hearts the desire to begin a work among these people. Through teaching them English, and assisting them in cultural adaptation, we will have the opportunity to share the good news about the Lord Jesus with them, as well as, to help those who come to know Christ, to grow in Him and in the knowledge of His Word.
The Lord has amazingly provided a house and an old church building for us here in the city of Hoquiam, and we are excited to face the challenges ahead of us in this new ministry. We know that we serve a God who is able to transform lives, families, and marriages; and we are eager to experience first-hand everything that He is going to do in this place.
Please pray for us:
Pray that God will give us wisdom and insight as we begin this new ministry and that He will bring people across our path that are open to hearing about Him.
Pray that the Lord will give special strength to Julissa during the rest of her pregnancy and for continued protection for her and our baby Eva (pronounced "eh-va" - the Spanish name for Eve).
